For many with food allergies this has meant just cutting candy out of their lives, but you will find a list below of certain food allergies candy that you can have. Children don’t like to feel left out because of a food allergy, and having a candy snack around that you can give them on occasion is a very delightful prospect. Dum Dum Candy Canes are the first item on the list for food allergies candy. The Dum Dum has been created with sugar, corn syrup, citric acid, malic acid, artificial flavor, and color. This means that you will not find any diary, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, or even gluten in the snack. It provides a safe snack for whatever food allergy you may have. Travel vaccination information

Travel vaccination information
The fastest growing industry in the world today is tourism. People are travelling to different countries and visiting exotic places. With travelling to new places travellers are also exposed to new food, new climates and new people. When travelling, there is a change in the environment. The travellers have to deal with drastically different temperatures – extreme cold, heat or humidity. This brings on the additional possibility of infections that are associated with these varied temperatures. Also, there are several parts of the world where diseases are still prevalent even though they may not be as active in the US. This along with the fact that healthcare services are not as advanced or prompt as in the US make it important for the traveller to be aware of and make arrangements for ensuring good health on a trip out of the country. The best way to do that is to have the appropriate travel vaccination information. Travel vaccination information can be got from the local health care centre or general practitioner. Even the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the CDC have guidelines that provide travel vaccination information. When travelling, you can never be sure of the quality of water and food that are going to be available. If travelling to tropical countries, the heat accompanied by various insects increases the risk of infection. Thus having travel vaccination information helps in preparing yourself for these eventualities. The first thing to check in getting travel vaccination information is whether the country that you are visiting has any vaccination requirements that need to be met. Many countries need an International Certificate of Vaccination before you enter. For example, many countries require travellers who have visited Africa or the Americas to have a yellow fever vaccination certificate to prove they are medically fit. Also countries like Saudi Arabia require all Hajj pilgrims to have a proof of vaccination against meningococcal meningitis ACW135Y. Travel vaccination information suggests that any vaccinations that need to be taken should be done 4-6 weeks before the travel date since the vaccine takes time to take effective. Also, as part of travel vaccination information, the CDC suggests that the traveller be updated in all the routine vaccinations that are done including tetanus, polio and hepatitis A/B boosters. There are recommended vaccinations that include typhoid vaccinations, Japanese encephalitis etc which will depend on the country you are visiting. Required vaccinations refer to vaccinations that countries expect you to have like the yellow fever vaccination. When travelling with children, travel vaccination information involves ensuring that the children have had all their booster shots as well as core vaccinations required for their age. Travelling is the most popular form of holidaying. Knowing the important travel vaccination information is one way of ensuring that a fun holiday does not end at the hospital.

Difference between bpd and bipolar disorder

Filed under: Health Information — Tags: — admin @ 9:35 pm

Difference between bpd and bipolar disorder
Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder which is relatively common around the world and is found in both men and women. As a mental condition bipolar disorder is characterised by extreme and unusually long mood changes that swing between mania and depression. Both the moods are associated with specific symptoms which are largely changes in behaviour and emotions. However a lot of the symptoms of bipolar disorder are those which are found in several other conditions also, including Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Due to this, many people tend to confuse BPD for bipolar disorder, when in fact they are two completely different conditions and there are many differences between BPD and Bipolar disorder. Borderline Personality Disorder mainly involves distortions in cognition. This change in the cognition gives rise to most of the other symptoms of BPD. One of the primary symptoms of borderline personality disorder is self-injury. This symptom is also seen in Bipolar disorder, but the difference between BPD and bipolar disorder in this relation is that in bipolar disorder the self-injury is more the result of suicidal ideation (severe depression) or hallucinations or delusions (severe mania). Bipolar disorder is basically mood changes, which is also a symptom of BPD. However the difference between BPD and bipolar disorder is that while mood episodes in bipolar disorder can last up to several weeks and even months, in BPD the mood change lasts for a couple of hours. Another difference between BPD and bipolar disorder is that while bipolar disorder requires a presence of both mania (or hypomania) and depressive episodes, BPD symptoms mainly involve symptoms of depression keeping in line with distorted cognitions and even if there is a positive feeling, its tepid at best. Also in those with bipolar disorder, the mood changes are spontaneous and can occur out of nowhere while in those with BPD, the mood shifts are generally due to an external stressor like an argument with a parent etc. One of the biggest difference between BPD and bipolar disorder is one symptom that isn’t common – patients with BPD live with a profound fear of being abandonment. People with bipolar disorder do not have this symptom. Another major difference between BPD and bipolar disorder is that psychotic symptoms (hallucinations and delusions) are very often exhibited in severe cases of bipolar disorder while these are absent in those with BPD. Instead people with BPD function largely from the belief that they are worthless and no good and will be abandoned. Differences between BPD and bipolar disorder can also be seen in the treatment method. For bipolar disorder medication works best along with conventional therapies like behavioural, cognitive etc though they aren’t always the best option. For BPD however, Dialectical behaviour therapy (which was specially designed for BPD) works best though medication is also required.

Causes of bipolar disorder

Filed under: Health Information — Tags: — admin @ 9:15 pm

Causes of bipolar disorder
Bipolar disorder is a psychological disorder which affects primarily the moods of an individual and thus the behaviour. Simply put, an individual with a Bipolar disorder experiences mood swings that fluctuate between polar opposites – Mania and Depression. In a manic episode the person experiences euphoria, extreme happiness, optimism, hyper-activity, restlessness, rapid speech etc. During a depressive episode the person is lethargic and low in energy, irritable and short tempered, has reduced appetite, constant tiredness, increased sleep etc. In severe cases of Bipolar disorder, there may be psychotic symptoms like hallucinations and delusions present, along with suicidal ideations during depressive episodes. Bipolar disorder can be very debilitating for the person. It can affect every area of the individual’s life and make it difficult to maintain normal relationships with family and friends, continue in a job or even function independently. Thus it becomes important to understand the causes of Bipolar disorder in order to take the appropriate preventive steps or make the right interventions. Like many other psychological conditions, the causes of Bipolar disorder are also not known. There are many theories about what could be probable causes of Bipolar disorder, but scientists and researchers are unable to point to any one specific cause. It is now considered that the causes of Bipolar disorder are both biological and psychological. One of the most common factors listed in the causes of Bipolar disorder are genetic factors. Studies have found that children of parents with Bipolar disorder are at much higher risk of developing the condition, which is to say first degree relatives of those with Bipolar disorder are at direct risk. However while genes have been implicated as a cause of Bipolar disorder, twin studies have shown that while one twin may have Bipolar disorder the other may not develop it even though they share the same genes. Another of the causes of Bipolar disorder is brain functioning. The neurotransmitters in the brain have been researched and a link has been found to exist between mood disorders and neurotransmitters. Studies show that an imbalance of the chemicals such as serotonin, norepinephrine or dopamine can be a cause of Bipolar disorder. Apart from the chemicals, the brain structure itself has been identified as being different in those with Bipolar disorder. Apart from biological factors, environmental factors may also cause Bipolar disorder. Stress triggers are also considered to play a pivotal role in the development of Bipolar disorder. These stressors can be anything including loss of a job, death in the family, divorce, moving houses, birth of a child etc. However since everyone has different thresholds of tolerating stress, each person will be affected by different stressors.

Difference between rh and abo blood group

Filed under: Health Information — Tags: — admin @ 12:30 pm

Difference between rh and abo blood group
Everyone in the universe are aware of blood groups namely O, A-, B+, AB, etc. But, the reality is that many of us do not actually understand the meaning or the difference of each group. It is been identified as a name without comprehending the complexity of each group. Blood comprises of four components mainly, red blood cells that carries oxygen in the body cells, the next is the white blood cells that functions as the soldier mechanism, this is followed by platelets that helps in forming blood clots and lastly is the plasma where protein survives. The red blood cells define the blood group you actually belong to. There are small markers known as antigens on the red cells surface, but they are so tiny that it cannot be viewed under a microscope. However, every person has different antigens but for identical twins. The antigens identify the blood types and are the key to match the transfusions as well that helps in avoiding serious complications. The blood group structure is defined as the ABO system. An individual having blood group A, will have A antigens enveloping the red cells and the B blood group will have B antigens enveloping the red cells, while the O group has none of these antigens and the AB blood group has both the antigens of A and B. the ABO system covers antibodies existing in the plasma as they are the natural defenders against foreign antigens. Blood group A consists of anti B in its plasma and B has anti-A. Group AB in reality has no antibodies, while the blood group O has both the anti bodies. In case the antibodies locate wrong red blood cells, they will certainly attack them. This is the reason that giving incorrect ABO blood turns to be fatal. Another significant factor worth considering is the Rh system. All the blood groups have the possibility of having Rh antigens. Conversely, there are some who have it, while some do not have it. In case, the blood group belongs to Rh antigens, then they are Rh positive and a person having A blood group with Rh positive is recognized as A+. In case a person has A blood group with Rh negative, then it is A-. This is the same pattern followed for O, B or AB blood group as well. The Rh system duals the blood groups effectively so that the positive blood type does not get mixed with negative. Today nearly 84% population is Rh positive. However, the common blood group is O and is in great demand and the blood groups existed even among the ethnic groups.
